Pension Advice

Independent UK pension advice — workplace schemes, SIPPs, defined benefit transfers, consolidation, contribution strategy, and tax planning.

Pensions are the single most powerful tax-efficient savings vehicle available to UK savers, but they are also the most regulated and the most complex. A good UK pension adviser helps you make confident decisions about how much to contribute, where to invest, when to consolidate, and how to draw an income.

Common reasons people seek pension advice include consolidating multiple workplace pensions into a single SIPP for clearer oversight, deciding whether to transfer a defined benefit (final salary) pension, optimising employer contributions and salary sacrifice, navigating the annual and lifetime allowance rules, and planning income drawdown.

If you are considering transferring a defined benefit pension worth more than £30,000, regulated advice is a legal requirement — and for good reason: defined benefit transfers are usually irreversible and unsuitable for most savers. An FCA-regulated specialist will give a balanced recommendation backed by a Transfer Value Comparator analysis.

Every pension adviser on Trusted Advisor is FCA-verified and reviewed by real, paying clients. Initial consultations are free.

Frequently asked questions

Should I consolidate my old workplace pensions?

Often yes — consolidation simplifies oversight, can reduce charges, and gives you broader investment choice in a single SIPP. But some older workplace pensions carry valuable guarantees (guaranteed annuity rates, protected tax-free cash) that must not be given up. An adviser will check before recommending a consolidation.

Do I need advice to transfer a defined benefit pension?

Yes. Regulated advice is a legal requirement for any defined benefit transfer worth more than £30,000. The adviser must hold the relevant FCA permission (pension transfer specialist).

How much can I contribute to a pension each year?

In 2026/27 the standard annual allowance is £60,000, tapered for very high earners. You can usually carry forward up to three previous years' unused allowance. Personal contributions are capped at 100% of relevant UK earnings.

What does pension advice cost?

Initial pension reviews on Trusted Advisor are free. Implementation is typically charged as a percentage of the funds advised on, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate. Each adviser publishes their fees on their profile.
